The US Navy plans to replace its E-2C Hawkeye radar planes with the new Advanced Hawkeye starting in 2008. The Advanced Hawkeye will use the same airframe as the E-2C, but will have advanced electronics and a new scanning radar. Upgrades to the E-2C are being developed because the cancellation of the Common Support Aircraft program is forcing the Navy to perform those missions with other airframes.--Stephen V Cole
