India has signed a $300 million deal to buy Unmanned Aerial Vehicles from Israel, their largest arms deal to date. The recon drones will be Search-2 Tactical UAVs, a type used by the Israeli military for over a decade. India also wants to buy the Israeli Phalcon AWACS planes, but will not even negotiate to buy them until the Israelis agree in advance that the sale will proceed even if the US objects. (US pressure stopped the sale of the same planes to China.)--Stephen V Cole
